Rehearsing at 24 Marlowe Road (1998). After bringing out the 'Dracula' album Moth Conspiracy began to play regularly at The Twelve Bar Club on Denmark Street. Pez had moved to France and so in March 1998 Will Matthews joined the band on drums. One of Will's first gigs with the group was at Madame Jojo's on Greek Street in Soho. In many ways a problematic gig, some of the difficulties were witnessed by Jo Scutts, Grace Pickering, Tania Brannigan and Robin Delborgo.

Left to right: John and Patrick near the Serpentine, Hyde Park (February 1998) shortly before a Moth gig at the Royal College of Art. This was a publicity shot for the planned Espionage project which was to include the song known as 'John's Funk', penned by bass-maestro Moreira and often deployed as a crowd-pleaser, beloved as it was of many a loyal Moth-gig die-hard.

John and Patrick in suits at the Lent Mingle in March (King's 1998). Will Matthews was on drums and the band was stationed in the Chetwyn Room on this occasion. The 'Dracula' album had been put on the King's JCR juke-box, with 'Love', 'Superclean', 'The Piccadilly Weepers', 'Three Cheers For Batgirl' and 'Onionhead' being selected on a regular basis.
