In February of 1997 Moth Conspiracy were hired for two gigs, a fortnight apart, at the Cambridge Union Society for two and a half hours on both occasions. The gigs were set up by James Wiley, a close friend of the band, whose firm, Eagle Security, had been working for the Union Society. Years before, when the band had played a set at a Union Society Christmas Ball, Graham Kendall had over heard one ball guest tell another not to go and hear 'that Moth Conspiracy; they're a bunch of communists from King's'.
